![]() This should have a few replies.
![]() So many for sales lately that state "no shipping". {yes, I know its the sellers option}. ![]() Is it not easy to pack items and ship them normal post and fairly cheap? I can see why many items dont ship well but many do. I have shipped used equipment everywhere with no problems, even large skimmers, which do scare me. Anyways, just wondering and as a point of discussion. ![]()

![]() I have noticed the same thing lately. I do know that it can be a PITA to ship things but if you are a smuck like me that lives in the boonies with no LFS and have to rely on having absolutely everything shipped it can be almost heartbreaking. (When you see a fat juicy coral you would love to have - or a piece of equipment.....).
Not really meaning to dis those who are not willing to ship but more to give kudo's to those of you that are willing - it is so much appreciated. ![]() |

![]() TIME TO MOVE Out of the boonies RUTH LOL
Well Doug I'm on your side with this one. Lots of times that people are selling a certain item that I want and they come out and say No shipping. ![]() I think its lots of people are scared of the item being broke. All it takes is a little time to wrap it up. Come on people look at the time that we spend on the tanks doing water changes and checking the levels moving tanks around pulling out the rock and putting it back in. However I know it is always said I will pay for the shipping( the buyer of course) ANd they still dont want to ship. I CAN'T speak. ![]()

![]() I have only sold a couple things...the items I have shipped have been easy to do with a box, some styro chips and bubble wrap....and hey, it meant a sale! And someone was able to use a piece of equipment that I no longer needed and didn't want to pile up with the other "unused things" because I am sure I am like everyone else with many things being upgraded or changed and a reef storage room that looks like the LFS!!!!!
I know I love seeing the ads that have "will ship" ESPECIALLY those JUICY corals.....we don't have a huge selection here and seeing some really cool pieces that people will ship is great..but I do understand their reluctance in the concern of losing a really nice coral or having a skimmer broken etc. So charge a little extra to ship equipment but put insurance on it...that way everybody wins!

![]() I used to ship corals but I got stuck a couple times with the shipping costs (the corals were free all I wanted was the money I had to put out to ship

![]() Heh,heh. I once shipped corals by air from Thompson to someone in Novia Scotia. All frags of course. And free, except the shipping. The farthest I would do corals now though, is in the province.

![]() With livestock I know I'm not too keen on shipping although I have done so in the past for those who really wanted stuff, and I don't mind doing so provided I have the time to commit to packing and driving up to the airport or whatever ... just usually there needs to be a minimal threshold just to sort of make it worthwhile for both parties.
With dry goods, for the *most* part, I think there's no excuse not to ship espescially when the convention is for the buyer to pay shipping. It takes 20 minutes to go to the post office. Unless it's something gargantuan like a mondo mojo skimmer that takes up an entire room. I dunno just my $0.02..

![]() I would be nervous to ship livestock, but would ship equipment in a heartbeat. I've packed and shipped all manner of breakable things to/from Germany and to/from South Korea, so I know it's feasible.

![]() I know I am not an active member on the board anymore, but figure I'll toss in my two cents.
Right now I have hardware for sale , local only. The reason I do local only, is so I can try and get rid of it locally first.. simple as that. I had intentions of shipping if there's no local interest. Calgary is full of reefers, so I know I have a decent chance of selling locally first. I'll probably wait it out til next weekend. Shipping an item out isn't a big chore, but sure can be if you don't own a vehicle and so on.. so this is why I choose to sell locally first. And I am sure there is some apprehension when sending hardware out... most pieces of aquarium hardware are worth quite a few bucks. I'd much rather see my hardware go to someone physically and have them take it home. But that's just me.
