![]() Hi everybody,
As stated above I am thinking of putting a 1” (or 1.25” hole) in the upper corner of my 10 G for a return. I know the glass is on 1/8th thick and figured it was too thin to hold without cracking the glass. ![]() NOW… Could I just attach a second of 1/8th glass to reinforce this? Or do I even need to worry about it ![]() Thanks Dan

![]() You can actually custom order a tank from Seastar with holes drilled in them where you need for a fairly reasonable price. I think you will end up cracking the glass trying that.

![]() Yes, but I have a number of old tanks and lots of time on my hands.
![]() Was also going to cut an over flow into it also. ![]()

![]() Well I guess you can always experiment since you have extra tanks then. Im guessing you will have a tough time drilling 1/8" glass.

![]() Nice and easy see, thats the way you do it!
When cutting a notch, I always drill a hole in each corner first..that way the inside corners are radiused and less prone to cracking. Rich............ |

![]() It'll work, I drilled a five gallon with a 1" hole and it didn't crack. You just have to be careful, and make sure that the hole is approx. 2" from every side. I drilled mine for an above tank fuge.

![]() I took it into AI in Edmonton, and used the press drill.
