Default Anyone heading out to the coast?

While I was visiting in Edmonton helping a friend move she offered me her 25 G tall tank and all of the accessories as her new place doesn't have any room for it. Just wondering if anyone from Edmonton or Calgary is heading out to the coast (Vancouver or Victoria) anytime in the next month and would have room for a tank? The tank is all boxed up. I am in Calgary until Monday and could drop it off and then will be heading up to Edmonton on Tuesday.

If I don't find someone that is able to take it with them, I am thinking of shipping it. Does anyone have experience shipping a tank? I was thinking of going greyhound, I am sure it will cost less then what the tank is worth!

If you can give me a hand or have info about shipping let me know! Either Pm or give me a call on my cell phone (250) 661-3964.

Thanks

I can't coment on who has the best rates, but if you have to ship it I can give some pointers.I work in the freight buisiness.

#1 find a box it will fit in with some room to spare
#2 add a layer of styrofoam peanuts to the bottom of the box
#3 put the tank in the box.and add peanuts around the edges and fill the tank
with them untill the box is full.
#4 Seal the box with packing tape and mark the destination.Address and City is
best.On at least 2 opposite sides .
#5 take to shipping company( some will pick up,but residential P/u is expencive)
#6 have them put Fragile stickers on it.
#7 If it gets broken in transit you will only be paid $2/lbs.So pay the extra for
insurance, when they ask the Value tell them the cost of a new tank.
Because you will be replacing it with a new one.
#8 This one is very important.DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING untill you inspect the
tank for cracks or broken glass. Then mark any damage on the POD.(thats
the delivery slip)
#9 If you have the tank delivered to your home and its broken, take the tank
from the delivery guy after marking damages on the bill. Then call the
office of the company and ask for the claims department.

Almost forgot,if you cant get peanuts, wad up some news paper and use that.

Hope that helps, good luck.Personaly I hate shipping stuff, because I see how its handled.
