Default Eclipse 12 retrofit

I have a 1x96 watt coralife retrofit fixture that I have installed in a 12 gallon Eclipse. My question is do I need to cover the light with plexi or something? I worry about doing it due to heat issues however don't want to cause an issue by not doing it. Which is correct?

i think the plexi would be a good idea. i don't know for sure, but water splashing on a hot bulb doesn't sound like a good thing.

Just make sure your ventilation is good...last thing you want is the bulb overheating and bursting...or melting your hood.....I would be concerned with that more than having water splash on the bulb.
