Seio pump question
Having never run a Seio pump before, why is it that they have so many configurations, and it seems most people make them look like tunze streams, why is this?

You can take the cover off and set it up like in the picture in the link below.
The far left is "standard" the far right is what I am talking about, I have seen it done on most seios in people's tank pics, but I am curious why http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...io.asp?CartId=

you get more flow out of them with the cover off and they take up way less space.

I personally like the various optional configurations available. Ditto on the cover off thing.

With the cover off, is the risk of something getting sucked into it/against it and dieing much greater though?

Cover off...
I have left the cover on, my sea hare has been up there multiple times and without that protection hed' a been soup. I like the flow even with the cover on and i didnt have a hard time tucking it away and makiing it somwhat inconspicious.
sieo 800, 45 gal.
