![]() Hi all,
This might be a silly post, but please help me id a coral that I have seen but can't really find any info on it. The coral looks like an open brain, it looks like the number 8 (if you can imagine it), it is pink in colour inside and outside rims. My first guess was a pink open brain, HOWEVER, when I got closer to it, and touched it, it had no flesh at all. It was a stoney coral! Any idea what that is? if you can direct me towards some pictures to id, that would be great. Thanks in advance. fresh. |

![]() I saw it at big-als. They said it is an open brain, but could an open brain have no flesh/meat, and be fully hard?

![]() Oh .. OK I was wondering if it had been something you saw while diving or snorkeling.
In that case .. it probably was an open brain, just pulled in or not fully expanded. The flesh can be right tight up into the skeleton if they're stressed (i.e., recently moved or just put into a tank, etc.)
