Default NO water proof end caps

I should be in Van this Saturday, where can I get some end caps for the new lights I want to install. I want to put 4x36" NO on my 33g so I only have 12" deep to deal with if I keep a flat top. Any sugestions. Darren I emailed you last week, but got no reponse.

Hi Lee, I picked up some Icecap endcaps from J&L that should work for T12 NO lamps. I think that they are about $20 for a pair with the stand-offs.

Sorry Lee.

Must have been on glue or summtin when you sent that. I'll stop in at J&L and see if they have doubles left how does that sound?

Bruce can you measure yours and tell me if I can fit 4 bulbs side by side in a 12" wide box.

Darren that woulb be great. If you see anything at J&L you would recomend let me know, I'm new to the SPS & Acro stuff.

What is the difference between VHO and NO end caps, Albrite had them for VHO but not for NO. I'm going to test my new Workhorse7 on 2 VHO bulbs, let you know if it works.

Lee,

As long as both tubes are T-12 the VHO will fit NO. T-8's are the smaller diameter tubes you can get. ie the Hagen power glo's etc.

I am off to J&L now so I'll keep ya posted..

What other equipment are you loking at for the tank WRT SPS and such?

I guess it is easier to ask what you have now and we can go from there.

Hey Lee, the Icecap double enders are 5" across the two, 10 1/2" with two of them side by side.

The singles are 2" across, so four of them would also fit no problem. Either way, they should work, I just don't know if the doubles are still available.

Darren, so the pin spacing for T12 and VHO are the same. The guys at Albrite would not bring them out for me to try. Since I have both, I could have measured them, but I will not be home before I go to Van. Thanks for checking on the stock. Is Albrite open on Saturdays? Other wise I will order them from J&L when I pick up my box of LR on Saturday.

Darren as for the SPS, I have none and no Acro yet. These would be my first and I would really like some colors.

Hey Lee,

VHO's are T-12's. FYI.

Albrite isn't open on saturdays. Which is a PITA.

SPS n stuff.. well first off I 'd say you will need ot upgrade your lighting if you want them to thrive.
Under 175's you will keep them alive. but brown.

Your tank is a prime set-up for SPS. with all the automation and such you will have a stable tank for hard corals. Go for 250W 6500K Iwasakis. Two of em. you have the two VHO"s for actinic supplementation. Which will balance the color nicely.

Until you get the higher wattage MH's all that will happen(unless the corals are high in the water) is they will be brown. Even then with 175's they may not color up. Some people can get them to. But not to the intensity of say Jamie's or Marc's tank.

Is that what you wanted to know?

All I can see is the lighting holding you back.
