how high should my lights be off the water?
I am using 2 96 watt PC and 3 NO actinic bulbs and I was looking at my stand and I am not sure if I am going to be able to build my lights they way i originaly intended, but befor I start I need to figure out how high they should be.

I have my halide 5 1/2" off of the water, my actinics a bit closer.

I suppose the main thing is to keep the water from splashing on the lights.

I have my URI Vho's approx. 6" above my water line. They get some salt spray on them, but it never gives me any problems. I use a wet rag and wipe them off once every couple of weeks. I have waterproof endcaps by the way.

If you have your lights that close, how do you get those pieces of rock, or coral out without removing the canopy? Just a thought.

Hi, I built my hood with a 45 degree angle for the front 6" that gives me an 8" x 36" opening to git in there. The two actinics are mounted to the 45, so they swing up and out of the way when I open the hood.

I have brushed up to my halide before, they are rather toasty!!
