Default LIGHTING GURUS! Help me!

This weekend is the one. I’m going to add Actinics to my MH fixture…

I’m wondering if anyone out there who has seen my Lights (TomR, Tigger, or SeaHorse, ETC) could give me some advice on what exactly I need to make this happen. I currently run a ballast (looks like http://www.saltycritter.com/lighting...fo_ballast.htm the one on the right.) with Ushio 10k 250w MH bulbs… 3 Foot fixture (looks like http://www.jlaquatics.com/images/halide/hood-main.jpgb) with 2 metal halide bulbs in the middle and two extra sets of end caps.

Bought it second hand and purposely choose not to pay attention to lighting talk as it confuses me .

Help…!

I'm assuming there's no separate ballast for your actinics? Are there conneting cables or just the end caps?

If just end caps, sounds like you would need a single or double VHO ballast (depending on how much actinic you want), with connecting wires & bulbs.

Anyone else?

Anthony

PS. Not a lighting guru (recently converted to MH & never had VHO).

would be a good ballast if you're planning on running 2 36" VHO actinics.

I'm not fan of Actinics. I ran a single PFO 95W Actinic bulb over my 38G and it made everything blue. I'm thinking of trying LED Moonlights. Anyhow, I'm selling my PFO VHO kit if you are interested (It's all wired. You just flip the switch to turn it on. But if you just need the ballast and quickdisconnect, I'll sell them separately. I'll throw in the Actinic bulb ). It only runs 1 95W VHO since its a Workhorse 5. But if you want a Workhorse 7, you can get them at Albright and save on shipping.

Hi Ivy

I believe that all you needed was the ballast & VHO bulbs. I think that the quick connects a wired into your wire harness. The ballast will need the other quick connect to connect. Take a picture or 2 of the wire harness and canopy to show the people at J&L. Might see you there tonight.
