Default Flooding in Calgary :(

Didn't realize you folks down south were being inundated with rain Saw pics in the newspaper this morning and the damage in some areas looks devastating

As for our weather, it's been cloudy, windy and cool. Hardly any rain in Edmonton at all.

Is everyone okay down there? Hope you are all well and safe

Haha it has been raining for a week straight.. or 8 days now? Either or. There is flooding in high river, okatokes (sp) places like that.. Calgary is OK , but the Elbow river is slowly filling to the brim , it's weird... they said we've accumulated ? half or more of our annual rain fall lol.. in just a few short days... but yeah, rain is supposed to stop today/tomorrow ... it's still drizzling outside,

There's your weather update . hah

Its pretty crazy and deppressing, it hasnt rained like this for 10 years. Parts of High River have been evacuated. But calgary is mostly fine. Exept for maybe some houses on the elbow but they have enough money to deal with some flood damage

on the flip side Alberta needs rain badly to replenish the growund water than has been getting lower and lower over the last 10 years.

Just a few weeks ago I seen another named lake that had dirt and grass only. This week I see parks (storm water retension areas) with only the tops of goal posts showing and full of smiling ducks.

We really did need the water as stated above. In the past 10 years (since the last floods) Calgary has dried up to all but a desert. I drive by the Bow river everyday and even though the rain has stopped the river continues to climb. We're a bit nervous because the the river is only about a couple of inches away from the tops to the sewage treatment culverts, thats bad news. Thank goodness for the RODI units!

Tonight I'm going to check out the glenmore damn, the water has breached the top for the first time ever!

We're lucky here, when it rains like that we call it spring, summer, fall, or winter. Not to long ago while it was raining a lot the sewers were so full that the water was squirting out of man hole covers like little water park jets, only they were squirting up about 4 feet into the air... Made for interesting driving.
