Default Calgary zoo aquarium

Well ive heard that the calgary zoo is going to have a aquarium. Not whales and dolphins but like what we have in our houses, on a larger scale i would think. Just wanted to know what everyones thoughts on this are.

I have heard lots of conflicting information about this.

The last I heard is that they want to build an aquatics display, like for polar bears. But like I said I've heard lots of different things in the media. An aquaria display would be neat, I personally would like to see more of that sort of thing.

Well from what i hear. The zoo has gotten a 100 million dollars towards expansion and there will be a polar bear exhibit as well as a aquarium display. Im heading to the zoo today so maybe ill see if i can find some more info. It would be nice to see how they would to a reef tank.

They have had a reef display before. I love the zoo, but I have to say that it was awful. When we had stronger ambitions for forming a Calgary Reef Aquaria society it was a topic of discussion to see if we could help "redo" it.

Unfortunately we just never got to critical mass on either idea, I guess.

Yes a while back when we were discussing it, the zoo told me it was more of an aquatic display than an aquarium display. Seals, polars bears, etc.

I think it would be a good idea as it would provide more public education...also.....I think that they could use 1% of their money max to do a large reef tank....a million bucks could do a HUGE tank(ie: 2000g) or a couple smaller tanks and a small building for it.

Well this is expected since you cannot put a seals and polar bear together

but anyway I hope they will put a huge aquarium. I love going to those kind of place especially if theres a huge reef tank.
