Splice coral question

Hello, I’m looking for people’s experience with splice coral frags. If you purchase a frag of a splice coral that only has one of the 2 colours.. will the second colour show up as the coral grows?? Or do you need both colours from the get go. Looking forward to hearing what comes of this.
