Default Tank cycling

Ok another bit of conflicting info..

My tank 140 g running a protein skimmer, refugium, and sump.

My tank has been running for 10 days, the water is clear ph = 8.0 ammonia = 2 Nitrate = 2 slat water meter is 1.025

On advice I put in 2 clown fish 3 days ago which are doing very well ( what pigs) and I have a rock full of mushrooms. Other bits of live rock have some type of feather dusters apearing.

I started this tank with some cycled live rock and sand, as well as adding some live rock that was near cycled (information given to me)

I have not seen any algae blooms yet nor have I seen any spikes in readings.

Some in the stores tell me that my tank may have cycled very fast because of the live rock and sand, others say that I need to wait, and what I have so far is not a good idea. I only bought what I have on recomendations.

My mushrooms are growing like mad in the short time I have had them, I have algea growing on the live rocks at a rapid pace (had the power heads pointing right at the rocks on advice), and the fish are very active.

Hope some one here has a thought and can put this all in perspective for me, time is not an issue.

If you still have amonia the tank hasn't cycled.. you should have 0 amonia, 0 nitrite when the tank has cycled. It is a bad idea to use fish to cycle a tank and most fish stores push it cuz there is a good chance the fish could die and you will be buying more. If you put live rock in thats all you need to cycle as the die off with cycle the tank for you.

You didn't ask here first.

Plus, that's Steve's job, if I remember correctly...
