Default ya they do suck!!

Mine seized in a month. I haven't have much trouble with build up on other pumps. I was using it on an external closed loop.

anybody else out there experiencing problems with these pumps? I was considering getting the 4000HH unit for my return, but this two comments concern me. Please let me know your experiences with them.

TIA

Default "quiet one" pumps

Just my 2 cents worth .
I have a 6000 and I find it hot and not particulaly quiet......but no breakdowns....YET on the up side from J&L they are about $50 cheaper than other equiv. pumps ie Mag12 or Mak 4

I just got a Quiet One 3000 for my new FOWL tank, and now you all have me wondering if it was the right choice. The tank is going to be in my livingroom, and I wanted to keep the noise down, which is why I chose this pump. I hope it will be OK. I'll give it a try, but if I have troubles, I guess I'll swap it with a mag-7 or something. I can always use this one for water changes.

I've got one running in sump to feed my skimmer and I chose it because of all the problems I've heard about with the Mag 7's. Seems like you just can't win

I've only had it a few months so I hope I don't end up in the same boat.
