![]() I hate software that doesn't do what it should/says it will
I have a Microsoft wireless ergonomic keyboard and mouse 7000 combo that I love They worked just fine on WinXPPro When I switched to Win8.1 all info I could find was that they are compatible After connecting them and installing Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center, the Keyboard became unresponsive ... to the point that I had to use an on-screen keyboard to do 'everything' After a couple weeks of messing around, including using the el-cheapo set that came with my new PC, I decided that my old set was kaput I bought a new mouse and keyboard thinking this would fix the issue as my old hardware is many years old I plugged them in and, after an hour of testing, installed the MS M&K Center Program All was good for a total of about 2 mins - then the keyboard dies ... ![]() I removed the set, and the program, then had to do a hard re-boot I tried to re-install the MS M&K Program, but no go, time and again with error 1603 - good luck finding an answer online with that one It wouldn't let me install it Weeks ago, when this all started, I created a Restore Point for B4 messing with the Mouse and Keyboard. I tried to restore to that date and it failed, thanks mostly due to Kaspersky So I tried to install MS M&K one more time, after the failed restore point and it worked. STUPID MICROSOFT Then, once I had my hardware all setup with my buttons where I like them, the keyboard dies AGAIN. And this is with a brand-new 4000 Keyboard and 4500 mouse I finally remembered something from the old days and decided to roll back the drivers on the keyboard and, low-and-behold, there it is just like it used to be All is good now. And it even knows all the shortcut keys even though the drivers were rolled back I can't adjust the keyboard anymore unless I roll the drivers forward so I'll live with it for now And I now have a spare wired mouse and keyboard in case my wireless set 'does' actually crap out STUPID MICROSOFT Last edited by gregzz4; 09-27-2014 at 04:48 AM. |
