Default macro algea

hey all, I had grape algea growing in my tank, the nit level was good, and had tons of critters on the substrate. the grape algea began to grow out of control( as I did not have a ref. but will soon) so I ripped a large clump out. it did not come back as I thought. Now my nitrate level is rising and I no longer see any critters. Just wondering if anybody had some type of macroalgea that they have to much of and want to get rid of?
