Vodka/Vinegar Alternatives

I was considering vodka/vinegar, but the thought of that is just too revolting.

So I think as an alternative, I might try rum and coke. I'm just not sure of the ratio. I recently tried this, but I think the rum amount was a bit high, and it ended in poor results.
What kind of ratio are others using? Or would say, gin/tonic be a better option?

Thoughts?
