![]() Hey fellow reefers,
Is anybody running the BRS media reactor or dual reactor on their 120 gallon reef tank? Looked online and can't find an answer if this media reactor is suited for such a large reef tank. Especially in the area of GFO. Is there enough room in the cartridge to hold enough media for a 120 gallon system? or better off going with a different type of reactor. Let me know your thoughts. |

![]() I run that size reactor on a 230g system with GFO. The internal canister can pack quite a bit of media.

![]() BRS has a calculator for GFO. Haven't set my reactor up but for 200g is about 1.5cups of GFO, sure the reactor can handle that much.

![]() Thanks for all the quick responses. I'm gonna use the BRS calculator for sure. Great idea. Thank you

![]() I believe the media reactor handles 3 to 3.5 Cups of HC-GFO and you could run the reactor for any size tank as at the end it depends on the running time and how often you change the media.

![]() I'm running the AquaFX version of the BRS units - 2 singles with separate pumps
Got them from J&L The 10" canisters can physically hold 8" of media, although I'd rather not ![]() In my 110g total system I use 225ml GFO and 150ml Vertex Rox When running, the GFO is 3-1/8" tall, and the Carbon is 2-1/2" I'd see no issue running these on a system as large as 250g, although you'd need to stir the media frequently to avoid clumping (crack the valve open to allow full flow, then reset the flow) Go ahead and use them ![]() I prefer the singles for adjustment and changes Single Dual Last edited by gregzz4; 03-06-2014 at 02:50 AM. |
