![]() "Meteorologists are predicting initially strong winds from the southeast between 70 to 100 km/h late Saturday afternoon shifting to westerly gale force winds of 60 to 80 km/hour Saturday night, slowing to 30 km/h after midnight." http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/britis...kend-1.2538377 http://www.theweathernetwork.com/new...olumbia/21542/ Get your battery backups, inverters, pumps, towels, and rodi out! Chances are likely, some of us will loose power at some point. Good luck, stay safe! |

![]() Just saw this on the news, I used to think power outages were cool. And they had to show aftermath footage from the 2006 storm that ravaged Stanley park, hopefully it isn't that bad
Good luck fellow Vancouver reefers! No battery back-up here, just a space blanket, eek |

![]() We lost power last night for 10-15 min. So far so good. I have a tiny 1500W generator that should run my main pump and 1 heater so I should be ok....

![]() My car power inverter is only 400W and I figure my Reeflo hammerhead takes almost all of that and all my heaters are 300W each.
Last week we actually had a huge building fire just down the block that knocked out my power for almost 9 hrs. Every hour or so, I'd siphon 5 gal of water out of my basement sump and dump it into each of my 2 tanks upstairs. I had the wood stove going down in the basement so it was nice and toasty in the house. By the time the power came back on, tank was down to about 75 degrees from 79. But everything was still swimming and coming out by morning. I ran to my buddies house at 7 am to grab his generator, got it home, started 'er up, ran my cord and plugged in my pump. I kid you not, before the siphon caught in my herbie, the power came back on... grrrrrrrr. LOL |
