![]() Hey all,
I'm new here and today I made a big mistake with my tank. I have a fully stocked 47 bowfront and I decided to cut the centre brace off not realizing it held the top together. I did it to allow more light into my tank with my new maxspect razor. Now I fear my tank will buckle any day now. I'm looking for a a replacement bowfront tank with stand. Guess it's time to go bigger... Anyone have any ideas where I can score a good deal? Or know anyone selling a good used one?? Thanks!! |

![]() Big Al's has a bowfront on sale for their boxing week promotion. I don't know if I'd call it a good deal or not but it's better than replacing your carpet/flooring, livestock, coral etc.
I'm not sure if you could use Marine Epoxy and glue a 1/2" strip of clear lexan across the center to use as a brace to hold you over or not. Someone with some structural engineering could probably help you out there.

![]() But from the other hole with the slot, looks like it might have failed once already!

![]() On my old 90G the center brace came unsiliconed and fell into my aquarium in the middle of the night.
I was advised to empty the tank halfway or slightly more. This releaved the weight on the sides and I was able to resilicone the centre brace. |

![]() You could silicone a glass center brace in it's place.
