![]() Hey reefers
My next purchase for my 180 mixed reef is going to be a wave maker. Presently I have 4 fans (two hydors and two Aqueon) running right now. from my research i have noticed that having a wave controller is hard on these models and worry that turning them off and on would create issues. (my one hydor goes backwards 3x to 1) What would be the best wave action and would it be better to replace the fans? |I was looking at a wavebox but a little on the pricey side and didn't like the big black box in the tank. please give me some idea's |

![]() yea just don't like the box - I really can't hide it.
The jebao wp-40 wave maker looks really good. Anyone using this? also is it big enough for a 180? Last edited by saltyair; 10-31-2013 at 06:00 PM. |

![]() i'm using a wp 40 on my 240-good water movement but nothing compared to a wave box(changing my wave box pump tomorrow).with the box it pushes out a couple of cups of water at each pulse and then refills.the wp is just taking the surrounding water with no real displacement.i'm not saying the wps are not any good-i'm very happy with them(i also have a wp25 in my frag tank)

![]() Love my Jebao WP60 and it takes care of almost all the flow for my 165g (almost same dimensions as 180g). Good "wave" action at the surface and corals waft in the current.
