Default Light upgrade

Well I'm done with the radion and back to halides

Looking at lights I am planning on a lumetek ballast and Hamilton cabo sun reflector.

Is mogul or DE better and y

Tank is 24"x24"x12" sps only. Is a 250w to much.

No kidding.

Why did you decide to ditch the Radion?

Good choice. You should be fine with 250w. I'd probably go 10" off water line.

My manufacturer says I need to be 12" off the waterline. Would the extra two inches make a difference?

Only heat wise. Farther will put less heat in the tank. I just suggested 10" as a minimum.

I would decide based on the bulb you want to use. In 250, I'd want a phoenix 14k, which is a DE bulb.

Color, growth

I joined the cool club and while I do see benifits of led Im just not getting what I want from them and while I spose you could say mitras, radion pro or hybrid the halide is proven and still used buy the best of the best growers. RR,tyree, cherry, cornbred.
I buy there corals because if there colors. I want to retain there colors

Of coarse I'd want a radium but people are squeaking about the phoenix and the aquamaxx bulbs

I only used geissmann and aqua medic before didn't care for the latter

I never liked the radium in 250, I found it a bit purple for my tastes. My favorite all time bulb is the 400w radium. I think the phoenix 14k is a close rival in color. But whatever you go with, I'm sure you'll be happy with the results!

Might want to look at a Ushio 14K.
My favorite DE 250watt bulb.
