![]() I have had my biocube29 running for a couple of months now and there appears to be a few random things growing. I'm hopin that I can get some help
ID'ing them and seeing if they need to be removed First picture is of a few little red and brown leafs growing off of the rock. There is one above the snail and one below the pink polyp. Second picture is of another leaf thingy that is growing except it is more of a deep red purple. Third is a red feathery thingy. I think it's a feather duster but its red so I was worries. I have a bunch of feather duster that have grown all over the tank, is that normal? Forth is a little clam like thingy. Not the best picture but its between the purple stuff. I couldn't get a good picture of it but there is like 5 feather like dusters that are growing together but they are brown and they have longer tenticals Please help |

![]() Can't quite make out stuff in the first pic, but the purple stuff (if not coraline algae) is a kind of plating algae. It's harmless as long as it doesn't explode in #s
The other 4 pics are not there Edit: OK I see you are still uploading ![]() Could you try using something such as Photobucket or Drop Box to post your pics ? You upload, then copy the link and paste them into the post It would make it easier for us to view them |

![]() The red leafy stuff looks like macro algae. Up to you if you keep it or not. I don't mind some 'natural' stuff in my tank
The red hairy stuff is red turf algae. It may go away on it's own as your tank cycles/matures. If it gets out of control, get some Indonesian Turbo snails. They love this stuff. Mexi turbos may eat it, but they don't last as long in our tanks The little white stick in the pic with the snail looks like a Vermatid snail. Get rid of it pronto. Don't panic, but break it off and cover it with epoxy before it becomes a plague in your tank. They spread like crazy - I should have done this from the start and now they are all over. Messy little critters The pink/red looking thing in pic d30 looks like a feather duster If you're asking about something else, I can't see it Look online for pics of Aiptasia, Mojano, and Hydroids The first 2 must go, and the third are harmless Maybe you could get a clearer pic of the things you are showing us ? The 'plating' purple stuff is an algae. Mine isn't out of control The other purple stuff that covers rock like it's painted on is corraline algae. Sign of a healthy tank, or at least good levels of Alk/Ca/Mag. Some like it, some hate it. In the pic with the snail, I don't know what the pink/red thing with the white center is - I can't make it out Nice lookin' frags. My leptastrea has doubled in size over the last year |
