Default Merry Christmas for 2011
Hello,

Seasons Greetings. It's that time of the year again. Wishing all a delightful and peaceful relaxing holiday period.

A bit about events on my end this year. We have gone through some issues with the web site earlier this year on 5 Jun 11, resulting in some unfortunate data loss. Work has since then deviated from enhancing content, adding new features, and upgrading vBulletin to researching on a best compromise data backup policy.

Work also has been crazy. Yes I don't work on Canreef 100% full time or I'll starve. Sleeping consistently for 4 hrs a day during week days between mid Nov to mid Dec, then went through an 18 hour marathon on Wed this week followed by a 3 hrs sleep before heading back to work. Am understanding next year will be a huge challege also at work. The rest of the Staff team also have their own professional career to manage so thank you to all for your hard work and enduring preserverance.

Latest one is I am married to my girlfriend I knew for over 6 years on 11 Nov 11 (6 ones!!!).

Congrats, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year Titus. Thanks to you and all the Mods/Staff for all your hard work and efforts to keep CanReef going. We have had our up's & down's this year but all in all it's been a blast & would really miss CanReef if it was not hear.

Hello,

With regards to the data backup policy, we now take a weekly copy of the daily site backup from North America straight to my home in Hong Kong. Turns out this is going to be the best approach, compared to adding extra servers on the data center, as even if the data center company goes ka poof, I still have my data with me.

Since there's also a real time site to site dedicated VPN channel between the two locations, the next step would be to setup an asynchronous MySQL slave at home. Then the next step would be a DNS and web server here also so if the primary site in North America goes down, I can still have some control serving web pages, despite the capacity in doing so is much reduced.

So yeah that'd be the road map as a FYI.
