Default Blue World Aquariums visited by Bob Fenner!

We were just visited by Bob Fenner! Unfortunately I was too star-struck (yes, I am a fish geek) to think of grabbing my camera...even as he jokingly posed in front of our shelf of Tunze products! Very animated and funny guy!

Ended up having beers with him and some local hobbyists until 1am last night!

He is a very personable guy. While he was in the store he made positive comments about some of the products he saw in the store...Tunze, New Life Spectrum, and Vertex. He jokingly pointed out the Phosban 550s we have running as "Two Little Squishies" and mentioned Sprung's new kalk reactor. I said I had seen it on Reef Builders and he made some positive comments about Jake Adams and proceeded to drop half a dozen names of other predominant names in the industry who he ran into at the latest Interzoo.

He asked about how we were setting up our store. Specifically about coral propagation and whether or not we were going to run copper in our fish systems. He asked about how I ended up in the industry. He seemed to approve of what we're doing and future plans or at least acted that way!

Last night he gave a presentation for The Greater Victoria Aquaria Society about how marine fishes for our hobby are collected from the wild and the importance of captive breeding and propagation. I got the whole thing on video and am uploading it to YouTube as I type this. Very interesting stuff! Well worth the watch!

He approved of the use of copper.

From his book: "Copper can be an aquarist's ally, but it must be used prudently, with careful monitoring, testing, and observation of your fishes."
