![]() Hello im just wondering if i could use river rock as base rock...not lots just a few pieces at the back where there will be no light and outa sight ....just a thought thanks....

![]() I would n ot use river rock in a saltwater tank. The salt will leach out all the minerals and metals and could poison the water. You just do not know what the rock contains.

![]() River rock would be too dense to support the bacteria that is benifitial to a reef tank.

![]() +2. Use the base rock that is offered... you can even buy the dry stuff, it will become live in time.
