![]() I just set up a new tank & found a hitchhiker.
It looks just like a Mithrax crab but it's similar colour to coralline. I've had reddish & also green Mithrax crabs before but not seen one this colour. Does anyone know if coralline coloured Mitrax crabs exist? or is it another kind of crab? Most important question should I get rid? (I never really like my Mithrax crabs as one of them destroyed some nice acros I had) . EDIT. Nope it's not a coralline covered Emerald! ![]() . Last edited by VFX; 03-12-2008 at 07:35 PM. |

![]() Can you post a picture of the crab? Most crabs I've seen other then acro crabs are harmfull in one way or another. Had a emerald crab that would sit on acros pulling of the polyps and eat them. Of course this was after he got rid of all the velonia.

![]() I would get a pic if I could, but it sits in a nice dark hole most of the time. I'll see if I can tempt him out with some food in a glass to get a good look at him... . |

![]() Most of the time with crabs it's usually just better to get rid of them.

![]() OK so my old trick of a glass with some prawn in it didn't work for catching this damned crab!
Could it be a herbivore? or just smart! Anyone have any suggestions? (short of dismatling rockwork & giving 'his' rock a dip) . Last edited by VFX; 03-18-2008 at 07:43 PM. |
