Replacement shaft for Mag 18

Does anyone know where I can find a replacement shaft for the Mag 18 pump locally and abroad?

Big Al's does have the impeller assembly for $79, shaft not sold separately so that no good for me.

So I checked out PM hobby shop next door and found a carbon fibre rod that is the exact diameter that I think will do a better job than the ceramic shaft itself.
$7.99 for a 24" stick, going to try it out tonight.

Various other diameters in carbon fibre or stainless steel available if anyone is looking for an alternative to expensive ceramic shafts for their pumps.
