The tank survived my being out of town for 6 days even though the top off chamber ran out of water (surprisingly), and the return pump wasn't really pumping anything anymore.

Funny you ask because a week ago I gave in and added about 4 cups of a random coarse mix I had laying around. The coarse mix is about half crushed coral (a smooth, round type), and half Caribsea Super Reef. I added that to the 3/4" or so of Caribsea Special Grade that's in there (which I found too uniform looking).
