Was a very disheartening lesson to learn. But hopefully I have learned from my mistakes and an more knowledgeable now (and a little more patient ). Thanks to my buddy Jim and unfortunately him having to shut down his tank I got to adopt all his fish and got a few others.
I have gotten better lighting thanks to @ lastlight and added 4 radium 250w. Also adding a calcium reactor and UV sterilizer right away! |
Yes, patience is a virtue when it comes to saltwater tanks that's for sure. It's certainly not recommended to add as many fish as you did in less than a month. Poor fish.
With a tank the size of yours you really should consider a quarantine system. It only takes one fish to wipe out the entire tank (as you've already learned), and even if you take all the time in the world that last fish could easily be the Marine Velvet vector you really don't want. You think Ich is bad? Try Marine Velvet. Many a tank on Canreef has been lost due to MV.
