I wouldn't put any water in the tank until the above suggestion is done, the braces were there to hold the tank together and a very important part of the structure as to outward water pressure on the glass, and has nothing to do with holding up the lighting.
Once you install the acrylic braces you should be good to go, nice tank BTW.

Hey! I never "LEFT" the hobby, just doing fresh water now. Which is still listed as part of Canreef if I'm not mistaken.
