They are very noisy, they're the ones I want replace with better quality quiet fans. Still looking.
So I ordered 2 new very quiet fans from the "Cooler Guys" got them yesterday
$6.50 each, put them in the RSM mounting bracket and WTF! louder than before. I've had this problem when I was in the HVAC trade with grills and fans causing fan noise, the problem is the Red Sea bracket not the fans I cut out all the grills front and back of the bracket put the original Red Sea fans in snapped it in fired them up and totally silent and a lot more air flow as well. The grills were causing the noise by upping the static air pressure across the fans as the air passed through them and reducing there performance. I suppose the grills are there so junior doesn't put fingers in them, but being at the back of the tank and high up I don't see it being an issue.
