Well, on the upside, all the gross algae covered bony rays have broken off and he looks much, much better. Things are starting to visibly heal. On the downside, over the past week One of my favourite and largest Acropora colonies has been getting damaged. I thought the tips were burning because of some issues with water chemistry, but it was only happening to the one coral.
Just busted Ferdinand in the act. he's big enough that Acropora sticks can fit right in his mouth. He's systematically eaten the growth tips off a diner plate sized coral in a week. I"m hoping this is a phase, but if he keeps doing it I'm going to have to find a new home for him.
