The only tang I have ever kept is my yellow tang. I'm sorry to admit that it is not the finest looking specimin any longer. It was the first fish I ever got, and has paid for my mistakes and learning along the way. Poor diet left it with traces of HLLE, an ich infection resulted in fin infections that left it missing portions of its fins, and its colour is just not as vibrant as it used to be. Still it seems to have forgiven me all this and lives happily.
Because of this, I had not originally planned on moving it into my new reef tank, instead leaving it in my FO tank. I did decided to move it in anyway instead of getting the purple tang that I really wanted. I figure that I owe it to this fish to give it the best home I can now for surviving all these years despite my efforts. It seems quite pleased with its new home. It serves to remind me to learn more and do more to care for these creatures.
When the time comes, I will then look for a purple tang and I will do a much better job of caring for it.
