If you have a multimeter, check to see if it's putting out 12vdc from the head unit when the pump on light is lit

Regardless, to test it you can temporarily twist the wires together

You can use marrettes to connect the wiring, then wrap with electrical tape if it's near water

I use insulated male and female connectors. You'll need a crimping tool
You can get them from auto parts, electrical, or hardware stores
