That is the big dividing line is it not
You don't need SPS to have a very good reef tank. I myself have a 2x96W PC fixture on my 50. There is not a SPS coral to be found in there except for a small M. digitata clump. The rest is softies, LPS. zoanthids, and mushrooms including Ricordia. For me that is all I want, and it makes me happy. I am sure the costs would increase dramatically if I were to add SPS to this mixture.
