I always start with the plug and keep an eye on the frag for a few weeks. If there is a problem with the placement or light, I can move it around. If I am happy with the placement and the coral is healthy, I glue it on my liverock directly.

If the plus is covered and encrusted, I keep it and new coral grow out of this.

Often the frag need light acclimatation so it is not practical to glue it right away.
