If you put live rock in your tank you won't need to use dirty water. Nitrifying bacteria cling to surfaces for the most part. Only a small amount will be in the water column. Live rock will cycle the tank all on its own accord without the need to add fish, fish food, or used water.

I will be using BRS eco rock for my tank. For 2 reasons. one i dislike most live rock hitchhikers and the other I have all the rock I want/need already haha. The water was just a hope for cheap way to fill the tank the first time
