I am in the process of setting up a 125g saltwater. Im trying to decide on a skimmer. My LFS says that a Skilter 400 in my sump will be fine. Im planing to soft corals and of course fish..So my question is, Is a Skilter 400 sufficent or should I be looking at something else? This is my first saltwater tank. If its not sufficent could you recomend a good skimmer?

IMO the Skilter may have its uses, but there are better options for a large tank such as yours where the emphasis is on fish. I am running a DAS BX-1 skimmer on my reef with soft and hard corals, and fish, and I am very happy with it. It is easy to clean, collects a large amount of dark, smelly scum in a short time, and does not need to be constantly adjusted and fiddled with. There is a larger model, the BX-2, for larger tanks.
