Even if we got a table at a lounge someplace to sit & BS that would be fine. My VW club does one once a month and it is just a drop in type of thing and chat with whoever is there over a couple of beverages.

There is a club in town called the Calgary Reefkeepers (
www.calgaryreefkeepers.ca). Maybe sign up and start suggesting some of those things to the club members as well :-)
