I'm in the same boat, but have a little more time than you... I've been doing some checking and there are a few shops that will do the pre certification course in Edmonton... if I remember correctly,
www.northwestscuba.com has a course on every weekend until I leave (April 19th) so you may wnat to check them out. I'ts about $200 for a single... might go down to $175 for a pair.
Google Edmonton SCUBA... 3 shops will come up... alll were fairly helpful. One of them was more expensive than the rest though... I'd say call them all.
