Unless you have an emergency overflow, I would not restrict your drain at all in case your drain somehow gets clogged. This happens and many people have had floods because of this. There are other ways to quiet the drain down. Search durso, or stockman standpipes. These are a couple of ways to quiet the drains down without restricting the drain. (Just don't want your mother ticked off about the hobby cause of a flood on her floor
