no not at all, it used to overfow on start up befor I did this. but you have to be carefull not to totaly submerge the outlet or the skimmer becomes a surge maker

this one is already modified as much as yuo can go except for the air stone. seing as one tank got broke I might have to use it on a 20 gal for the mantis.
Jack I am not sure on the age but I got it just befor christmas and it was about 1/3 that size. it used to be a beautiful tri color milli with a base of blue, oarnge tips and a grean highlight on the branches. sence the over heat event it has been brown which is what color it was when I got it so I am confadent it will regain its color.
