It is very difficult to eradicate it all together unless you have no fish in your tank for 45+ days, and can come back with anything you add after unless you QT for 45+ days to make sure it is not present.
Not sure what clam you have but it's not killing your hermits.
Your hermits are probably killing each other for a bigger homes. Do you have extra shells for them to move into?
Yup I have a wide veriety of snail shells in the tank and a bunch extra. I did have a blue jointed herm that was a bullie and killed quite a few of it's tank mates I have found his shell empty so he either moved on up in size or is now eaten him self. Will herms do population control by teritory or some thing like that? I have found that my herms like specific rocks to feed on and live on. It is starting to look like a teritory thing to me. I have 2 red herms left and about 3 blue knee herms. They are in my 55g, with about 100 pounds of LR. I just did water tests salinity 1.024, PH 8.3 ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are all 0. temp stay between 78 night to 79-80 day time. The day time temp veries a bit depending on how long I have the lights on for I have cut it back to control the GH algea seems to work. I am slowly increasing the (lights on) time now so I can get it back to normal light timing.
