K so i am going to update both tanks tonight

So first I am going to start off with a rant about why I am against vodka dosing and jdigital can vouch for the causes it can do if you stop dosing. Previously i was fighting hair algae with no luck. So after picking and picking just to see it grow back thicker and covering more and more area (it was a main supporting rock so taking it out involved ripping the whole tank apart). So I started considering vodka dosing, and after much research decided that dosing Tailored Aquatic's nitrate destroyer was my route of choice. 2 months of dosing goes by with great results and all of the hair algae was now gone I decided to stop dosing. Over 2 weeks i slowed down and than stopped dosing. Now where is the fun part. Tank was looking amazing, I was happy with the outcome of the product and than i started to produce excessive amounts of dinoflagellates, which now if being talked about with vodka dosing. No matter what I have done they would not go away. 2 months has passed and they are not producing as much. Its been a huge headache and i just want everything to be perfect like ever reefer. There are people out there who have been vodka dosing and want to get off (lol sounds like a drug) but are worried about the same out come. My summery about it is to not even start. There have been nights where I wanted to shut it down and restart.

Since than I have changed the bulbs, started running carbon and phosban and things are starting to clear up.

Old light Set up

AquaScience 22,000k
KZ New Gen coral light (14,000k)
KZ New Gen coral light (14,000k)
KZ New Gen coral light (14,000k)
KZ New Gen coral light (14,000k)
AquaScience 22,000k

New light set up:

AquaScience 22,000k
AquaScience 17,500k duo
KZ New Gen coral light (14,000k)
Giesemann actinic+ (22,000k) doug shhhhh
AquaScience 17,500k duo
AquaScience 22,000k

I was really hoping for the 17,500k aqua science bulbs to be a bit more blue but they aren't to much of a difference in my eye's. i think adding that third 22,000k made a bit of a difference. looking forward to seeing some of the long term effects this selection has on my corals as I will be running this combo for at least 6 months before changing them.

FTS for Nov. 3rd
