However, IMO, its not "normal" for it to be running 4-6 hours straight (ie never turns off for that period). If that is the case where you are present and it never turns off for that period, its running too hard IMO and you might want to either look into the 4 degree spread or reset it for a higher temperature. The harder it works the quicker it will wear out.
