I used to work at the SPCA and it is Wildlife Controls issue when it comes to anything "WILD" So they should b out there with a trap for it to trap it humanly without injury to you or it.
actualy it wouldn't be there job, it would be the owners responcibility to get rid of it if it is on privat property.. best thing you could probaby do is call a pest removal company.. they might be able to at least stear you in the right direction.. might cost a bit but if you don't want to atempt it your self..

I used to rent a farm and we did things a bit differnetly.. but it was the porcupine or rish the pain to my dog if I let it stick around.. and if I tried to relocated it I would probably be the one that ended up being shot byy the farmer whos land I relocated it to.. guess growing up on a farm gives you different ideas that if you grew up in the city looking at pests on some one elses property. now I wouldn't say beet it with a shovel, that is kinda cruel, and you can shoot a shot gun in a residential area, sooo you are left with baiting it out and relocating it to goverment land or poision..

personaly in your situation I would try trapping it but make sure you drive a hell of a long ways away as it will comeback if it is close enough..
