Disposal of Sand
Firstly : How Is it ok to just dump sand down the storm drains (I have 2 5g buckets filled with sand) and im' not sure what exactly I should do.
Now the reason why is that I had an ich (or w/e it is ..survived 5 months of cupramine/ich treatment) outbreak, and I removed my LR (but kept my sand) in my DT ..effectively turning it into a QT with sand. I removed the sand after 2 months after no effect (assuming that the sand was harboring the parasites better than the cupramine could eradicate the pests).
Now I know that the sand has absorbed quite a bit of copper, as I had to redose the cupramine levels many times.
So do i
1)add back my old sand, but use a product like cuprisorb to get rid of any copper that leeches out
2)Dispose of old sand, get new sand ?
