That of course would be Jayson at Saltwater Connection. Our Bluewaves are Sunlight Supply equipment. I have no idea about the availability of T5 bulbs though.

Not to much info on Perrys site. Would like to see some kind of cost info for comparison ot halide equipment. Also the cost of the electronic ballast they use, end caps and reflectors.

I figure I would need two banks of 3ft. bulbs for my tank. I would assume at least 4 bulbs per bank. So I would like to find out what that would cost, compared with my 3-400w halides.

I disagree bulbs driven on the correct ballast need changing every year. I have read several reports on vho systems run by Icecap, lasting several years. The initial drop off is intensity related only and can be compensated for by enough lights to start with.

Mike Miles is running all vho on his 120. Some are the units I was running before. I can say for one think, his tank is super looking nearing a year for the bulbs. I remember he never wanted to remove the pair of 400w Radiums and use the vho, but had a problem with heat and the reason we switched. You could not persuade him to go back to halides now. We will see the difference when switching bulbs. I can say thats not going to be for awile yet.

The whole point being, I think alternative light sources are worth exploring. I sometimes get tired of getting soaked for halide bulbs, esp ones that cant even make a year or the ones that do, look like someone peed in my tank.
Hear, hear, or as Teevee would say clap, clap.
