I agree, those that dismiss these songs are not giving them a proper chance. Look at "Mad World" (since I brought it up in another thread I'll bring it up here too
). When you listen to Tears for Fears you could easily think it just another techno dance track. But listen to the lyrics.. like Gary Jules did and hear his version.. and .. uh, wow .. words fail me.
OMD, New Order, PSB, The Cure .. definitely in my list of favourite artists. Just Like Heaven has been one of my favourite single pieces of music since the first time I heard it well over 20 years ago and it still holds for me.
I remember once as a 17 year old calling some stupid radio station, think it was 92, requesting a Cure song and was told "We don't play The Cure. <click>". I'd love to talk to that chick now. "Hey remember me? Remember what I requested? YEAH WELL SO DO I. I see you'll play the Cure NOW, but you know what? YOU STILL SUCK."
